Adoption…A True Story!

As November is National Adoption Month, I thought it only fitting to tell about a very special adoption that happened, November 21, 2023. True story!

Once upon a time in Texas, there were two siblings in search of a forever family. And just a few counties over lived a couple who once had children, but the children passed away in an auto accident in 2017. The couple’s hearts were missing a large piece, for they still had much love to give.

So the lonely mother asked her Bible study group for prayers to heal their hearts and help them know God’s plan for their lives. 

Fast forward five years to 2022. The couple have become licensed foster-to-adopt parents but are still unsure they are ready. The phone rings and it is someone the mother had met at that Bible study in 2017, saying her niece and nephew are probably going to be placed for adoption, and are they interested in meeting them.

After numerous play dates and overnights, the kids move in with the couple and begin the journey of learning to love and trust their new foster family. I am happy to introduce, just over a year later, the newest members of the Kevin and Audrey McCleary family-- Brynlee and Logan—and our new grandchildren! The adoption is final, and we could not be more proud and excited! It is such a beautiful story of community, family, and faith, a story of a most un-selfish aunt, Melonie, one dedicated CASA worker, Lee, and a committed CPS Case Worker, Bruna.
